Week
20- 36 is a good time to determine gender.
Week 24-26 is a good time—baby is growing and facial features are
becoming defined.
Week 26-30 is the best time – great time to see who your baby looks
like!
Week 31-36 is a good time – views can be good, but space for baby is
getting limited.
We recommend anytime after the 28th week for fuller figured
mommies-to-be.
When
should I book my 3D/4D appointment?
You
will need to
book your appointment in advance by calling or visiting our
office. We encourage you to come in and let us help you
decide
which package and appointment date will be best for you!
Please
give us a 24-hour notice for cancellation or rescheduling to avoid a
cancellation/no-show fee.
Will
my 3D/4D images always turn out the way I expect?
Usually,
but
sometimes if the baby is persistently looking away from us, or if
hands, feet, or placenta are in the way, it may be difficult to see the
baby’s face. Also, for our fuller figured moms, the images
will
tend to be a bit fuzzier. We can make no promises that the
images
will always meet your expectations. We do promise, however,
to do
everything we can to get the very best images possible.
Please
note that the fee paid for the ultrasound appointment is
non-refundable. However, the sonographer will use his/her
best
judgement and may need to recommend a return visit or a session
discount.
How
safe is 3D/4D ultrasound?
Ultrasound
has
been a routine practice in prenatal care throughout the U.S. It has
been studied for over 35 years, and has been shown to cause no harm to
either the mother or baby. The power intensity is the same
for 2D
and 3D/4D ultrasound. Please visit or call our office if you
would like more information.
Do
I need an order from my doctor to receive an elective ultrasound?
You
do not need
an order for an elective ultrasound. We offer elective
ultrasounds to expectant mothers who are currently receiving prenatal
care and have undergone their second trimester diagnostic ultrasound
(this is the ultrasound your provider will typically order around 20
weeks). This
elective
ultrasound does NOT take the place of a complete diagnostic ultrasound
or any other type of care your healthcare provider requires.
Our elective services are simply a wonderful adjunct to the care you
are currently receiving.
Can
you also do my diagnostic OB ultrasound?
Yes!
You
have the right and privilege to choose where your diagnostic testing is
performed. You can request that your health care provider fax
your referral to Ultrasound
Specialties, LLC.
An experienced and nationally credentialed sonographer will perform
your exam at an advanced level utilizing the most sophisticated state
of the art equipment. A
20% discount will be given on 3D/4D packages to moms having their
diagnostic OB ultrasound at Ultrasound Specialties, LLC.
